Stars Restaurants History Stars Restaurants was founded by Jim Barrett in 1986. After practicing law for 10 years, co-founding a national fast food restaurant chain, and co-founding a group of banks, Jim Barrett decided to start his own drive-in restaurant company. Now, more than 20 years later, Stars Restaurants owns and operates more than 35 restaurants in the state of Texas. There is also one franchise location. Greg Barrett started working in the family restaurants while in high school. In 1991 he graduated from Claremont McKenna College and started working in the corporate office. He now owns and operates the company. Stars is a family owned business dedicated to our customers and managers. Many of our managers have been with us for over 30 years.
