General Information
Dr. Hahn has been practicing as a Urogynecologist since 2017, the only Fellowship-trained physician in that specialty in this region. Dr. Hahn specializes in the care of women with pelvic floor disorders. A pelvic floor disorder occurs when women have weakened pelvic muscles or tears in the connective tissue due to excessive strain on the pelvis due to childbirth, repeated strenuous activity, menopause, chronic disease, or pelvic surgery. A Urogynecologist provides expertise in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of conditions that affect the muscles and connective tissue of the female pelvic organs. Among the common pelvic floor disorders she treats: Loss of bladder or bowel control Descent of pelvic organs Emptying disorders Pain in lower back, pelvis, bladder or urethra Overactive bladder Recurrent urinary tract infections Abnormal hole between vagina and rectum vagina and urethra, or vagina and bladder What is your patient care philosophy? My aim is to create a relationship between myself and each woman and work together to accomplish a desired treatment goal. My principal role is to provide each woman with accurate information about her condition or diagnosis and providetreatment optionsthat are available for each woman's specific condition, whether that be conservative or surgical management, to reach the patient’s goals. What would you like people to know about you as a physician? I truly love my job and am very passionate and energetic. Why did you decide to become a physician? I really enjoy working with and interacting with people on a daily basis, and combined with my love for science, I can't imagine another "job.†What do you enjoy most about working with patients? I enjoy not only helping the patient manage her medical issue and getting back to a normal life but also getting to know each patient individually. When did you know you wanted to be a doctor? I decided very early on in my college career that I wanted to pursue medicine. My father was an engineer and I loved math and science, but one semester of those classes really proved to me that it was not my route and medicine was for me. How does your work improve lives? The field of urogynecology is very much a quality-of-life field. Luckily, conditions of the pelvic floor are not "life and death," but when you are dealing with them day in and day out, it significantly impacts your day-to-day life and limits you doing the things you love. My goal is to get every woman back to a point where they are able to enjoy the things they love to do! What are some interesting personal facts about you?I grew up in a small town in Kansas. I love traveling the world. I'm a big exercise aficionado and love to do CrossFit. With what community and volunteer organizations are you involved? I'm new to the area so I am looking to find some new organizations. Would you like to share about your family? I have a lovely husband (from the Emerald Isle of Ireland) and a 1-year-old daughter. What childhood memory do you have about visiting the doctor? I always loved going to the doctor as a child. I went to an "old school" family doctor who knew and treated everyone in town, so going to the doctor was always such a great experience. Later in life, she was always an inspiration to me!
